As busy parents, it can often feel like there is never enough time in the day to accomplish everything on our to-do lists. Between work, household chores, and taking care of our children, it can be challenging to find time to focus on our own spiritual growth. However, nurturing our faith is essential for our own well-being and for setting a positive example for our children. Here are some tips for ways to grow your faith as a busy parent (or really just a busy person!): 1. Start your day with prayer: Begin each day by spending a few minutes in prayer. This can be as simple as expressing gratitude for the day ahead or asking for guidance and strength. And do this before you reach for your cell phone! By starting your day with prayer, you are setting a positive tone and inviting God into your daily activities. 2. Incorporate prayer and worship into your daily routine: Look for opportunities throughout the day to incorporate prayer into your routine. You can start by saying a quick prayer before meals or bedtime, or listening to uplifting Christian music while driving or doing household chores! By infusing your daily activities with worship and prayer, you are creating a constant reminder of God's presence in your life. You'll start to notice a calmness that wasn't there before! 3. Find a support system: Surround yourself with other Christ followers who can support and encourage you in your faith journey. This can be through joining a small group or Bible study at your church, or connecting with other parents who share your values. Having a support system can provide accountability and motivation to prioritize your faith. 4. Make use of technology: In today's digital age, there are numerous resources available to help you grow in your faith. Utilize apps, podcasts, and online devotionals that can be accessed on the go. This allows you to engage with spiritual content even during your busiest moments, such as while waiting in line or even during your commute! 5. Set aside dedicated time for spiritual growth: While it may be challenging to find large chunks of time for spiritual growth (or for anything!), it is important to carve out dedicated moments for this purpose. This can be done by waking up a little earlier or setting aside time after the children have gone to bed. Use this time for reading the Bible, journaling, or engaging in personal reflection and prayer. You may have to play with your schedule and if you have kids, we all know this will have to be flexible. I personally love to get up before my children and find that it sets the tone for the entire day when I've spent time in prayer first thing! But that might not work for you and that's o.k.! Just commit to finding a time that will work. Remember, growing your faith is a journey, and it's okay to start small. By incorporating these tips into your daily life, you can prioritize your faith and nurture your relationship with God, even amidst the busyness of parenthood. Your children will also benefit from seeing your commitment to your faith, and it will inspire them to develop their own relationship with God.
